Sue Mossop started the mandolin at 6 and took
lessons with Hugo D'Alton. She has received the Graucob Travel Award for Music
and the Shell Trust Scholarship Award, has the unique distinction of being the
first person in the UK to have taken an A Level (practical) on mandolin, and was
the first to gain a place at any London Music College with mandolin as principal
instrument. She received her Licentiate Performers' Diploma at Trinity College
of Music. Her professional debut was at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, at
the age of 17. Since then she has played regularly for the Royal Opera and Royal
Ballet, toured with the Welsh National Opera, performed at the Henry Wood Proms,
and has appeared on television in a live recording of Mozart's "Don
Giovanni" with the Royal Opera. On the international scene Sue has played
in Europe and Tunisia. She has performed with most of the leading UK orchestras
as well as Opera 80, Chelsea Opera, and Amnesty International. She has done
numerous recordings for TV and disc including the soundtracks of various films,
such as "The Return of the Three Musketeers," "Le Bossu",
and "Possession", as well as the Double Mandolin Concerto by Vivaldi
with Nigel Woodhouse and London Musici which was well received by the music
press.
