Sue Mossop started the mandolin at 6 and took lessons with Hugo D'Alton. She has received the Graucob Travel Award for Music and the Shell Trust Scholarship Award, has the unique distinction of being the first person in the UK to have taken an A Level (practical) on mandolin, and was the first to gain a place at any London Music College with mandolin as principal instrument. She received her Licentiate Performers' Diploma at Trinity College of Music. Her professional debut was at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, at the age of 17. Since then she has played regularly for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet, toured with the Welsh National Opera, performed at the Henry Wood Proms, and has appeared on television in a live recording of Mozart's "Don Giovanni" with the Royal Opera. On the international scene Sue has played in Europe and Tunisia. She has performed with most of the leading UK orchestras as well as Opera 80, Chelsea Opera, and Amnesty International. She has done numerous recordings for TV and disc including the soundtracks of various films, such as "The Return of the Three Musketeers," "Le Bossu", and "Possession", as well as the Double Mandolin Concerto by Vivaldi with Nigel Woodhouse and London Musici which was well received by the music press.

Other press reviews include: "…..her skill as a mandolin player was impressive. It incorporated technical skill, an obvious love of the instrument, and an ability to pass her enthusiasm on……."

"Sue's artistry is such that she can extract a wide range of tonal colours from her instrument…."

Sue Mossop now lives in Queensland, Australia and returns regularly to the UK to give concerts and lessons. For more information email Sue at Suefmossop@hotmail.com
